Abstract

The aim of this research was to know about the influence of cooperative learning type write-pair-square to the improving students learning achievement the plant irritability concept. This research be realized was conducted in October-November of 2013 at SMPN 19 Pekanbaru. The research design used was Quasi Experiment pretest posttest control group design. The sample of research did pretest, posttest, student and teacher activity as data collection. The sample determine in to 2 classes by purposive sampling technique. Data analysis techniques used in this research can be a t-test when the normal data and homogeneous, U Mann-Whitney test if the data is not normal or not homogeneous. The average of N-Gain in the class control 0,48 (medium) and in the experiment class 0,70 (high). Based on the U Mann-Whitney test score, it was found that N-Gain score was significantly different between experimental class and control class. It can be concluded, that there are significant cooperative write-pair-square to the improving the students learning achievement of class VIII SMPN 19 Pekanbaru in the plant irritability concept at academic year 2013/2014.
